Approximately 12 million people 40 years and over in the United States have vision impairment. As a home care agency in Woodbridge, Virginia, we understand how devastating and life-changing vision loss can be for patients, especially those who enjoy their independence above anything else.
Since February is Low Vision Awareness Month, we at All in All Home Care thought it would be ideal to participate in the movement by sharing a few tips on how to help a loved one cope with vision loss.
The majority of patients with vision loss get discouraged to seek help and treatment because they often think that it’s pointless. It is the responsibility of the caregiver to assure the patient that if they are willing to make the proper adjustments, it may be possible for them to continue to enjoy their favorite activities and hobbies. Let them know that they don’t have to stop participating in society — the more they are willing to continue to change, the easier it will be for them to adapt.
Our home health agency in Virginia is committed to providing patients with top-quality services and programs to ensure that their day-to-day lives are comfortable and easy.
